CATALIJNE starring in ”Don’t Shoot the Piano Player”

Singer Catalijne will be starring in the theatre piece ”Don’t Shoot the Piano Player”. The play will be in Dutch theatres in January, February and March 2019.

With a leading role for actor Yorick Zwart and the script written by play writer Rutger Kroon, the show is being directed by Wannie de Wijn, known for his internationally acclaimed theatre piece ”A Good Death’.

The performance tells the personal story of a former Dutchbat soldier (Yorick Zwart) who served during The Srebrenica Massacre. (Also known as the Srebrenica Genocide. It was the July 1995 massacre of more than 8.000 Bosniaks, mainly men and boys, in and around the town of Srebrenica during the Bosnian War. ) A Dutch national trauma. The unarmed Dutchbat stood powerless and had to watch the international community do absolutely nothing.

Catalijne plays the leading role of Siren. Being a figment of the soldiers imagination she sings various songs from the sixties up to the early nineties. She will also be performing her original soundtrack, ”Little Match Girl”.

Zangeres Catalijne zal te zien zijn in de theatervoorstelling ”Don’t Shoot the Piano Player”. De voorstelling zal in de Nederlandse theaters te zien zijn van januari t/m maart 2019.

Met een leading role voor acteur Yorick Zwart en script door toneelschrijver Rutger Kroon, wordt het stuk geregisseerd door Wannie de Wijn, internationaal erkend voor zijn toneelstuk ”De Goede Dood”.

De voorstelling vertelt het verhaal van voormalig Dutchbat soldaat Nico (Yorick Zwart) die diende tijdens De Val van Srebrenica (Ook wel bekend als de Srebrenica Genocide waarbij meer dan 8.000 Bosniërs, met name mannen en jongens, in en rond de stad Srebrenica werden vermoord.) Nederlands nationaal trauma waarbij de onbewapende Dutchbat machteloos toe moest zien hoe de internationale gemeenschap niet ingreep.

Catalijne speelt de leading role van Sirene. Als een droombeeld van de oud-Dutchbatter zingt ze nummers van de jaren zestig tot de jaren negentig. Hierbij zal ook haar eigen geschreven soundtrack ”Little Match Girl” te horen zijn.
